Another Set of Eyes

On the advice of Theodate's poetry editor, Brad Davis, I rewrote my poem titled Coming Home through Mississippi. His suggestions solved many problems in the poem. One of the most important edit suggestions was to eliminate the last six lines. When I did that a light came on -- and the poem showed me what it really needed to say. I wish all of us had more opportunities to get quality feedback like Brad gave me. I sent the revised poem to him and will post if he makes more comments to me.

Two ways to get feedback:

-- Send work to journals like Theodate where the editors are thoughtful and occasionally give feedback on poems.

-- Join an established renowned critique group like the poetry-w group at The Internet Writing Workshop.

Keep writing thoughtful, well-crafted poems and sending them out!
